Modern console gaming uses tricks like this all the time so we don't deal with the dreaded yet seemingly still unresolvable issue of asset pop in. Here's a fuck ton of ladders to climb that bring gameplay to a halt for no reason ![]() Like even if they weren’t trying to make it a scary game anymore it was so stress free since you didn’t need to balance the gunsĮdit 2: also they made all of our protagonists actually morons who don’t realize they’re being played when they really should’ve realized that by now I don’t hate that they got ballsy with the story, it just makes it impossible to do anything afterwards that’s more than trying to find a habitable planet and hoping that there isn’t a black marker or something there alreadyĮdit: also the lack of inventory management really hampered the stress. It also kinda ended with the earth and the moon getting converged, and as such pretty much every other earth settlement is pretty much boned since some people would try to escape there The overall one wasn’t terrible (if the player didn’t just laugh at the whole “gotta get it before the moon does”) but the characters were pretty bad and poorly written.
